Nicki Minaj Responds to Drake and Chris Brown Fight & Summer Jam Debacle

Nicki Minaj sat down with Tim Westwood during Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend. The rapper relished in her first UK performance, gushing at her barbs support. Then Tim began probing her for her thoughts on certain topics. The first one being the Drake and Chris Brown scuffle. Nicki explains that it’s not always the best idea to go out and that it never hurts to just go home and go to bed early. So true.

I don’t approve of telling to people doing things that aren’t conducive to an amazing career. I spoke to Drake and I told him from the bottom of my heart how I felt. I’m like, “baby, you are a superstar, and I need you to realize that.” He did nothing wrong, of course. Rumors are rumors and that’s what it is. But I told him it’s time to remember who you are. Some times you just might need to go to bed and have an early nap.

Nicki then proceeded to discuss her Summer Jam debacle that left her fans disappointed and radio people coming for Nicki’s neck. Nicki still managed to throw in those stats about her record albums as if they are the end all. But okay.

I was so passionate and so excited to go in for my hometown. It was going to be shut down…. At a certain point you just want respect. The year before that, Wanye performed How To Love at Summer Jam. No one said anything. I think the guys do treat the guys different. And maybe they feel Nicki Minaj is something to play with.

You have your opinions on the radio and all that, but when an artist is coming there to perform you should just keep it to yourself. Just for that one day. I want to let people know that I’m not even getting on your stage if you don’t have your mind right. If you get on the stage, you’re saying, “next time you can do it again and we’ll have this exchange.” Uh uh. I feel like it happened and there’s no animosity. I still love them over there at the station. They’ve helped me a lot. It’s not like we’re walking around being angry. It’s just that we wanted to prove that one point and that was that.

Welp. I’m over it anyway so…. just check out the videos after the jump and post your thoughts.
