50 Cent: “Anyone That Has an Issue with Frank Ocean is an Idiot”
Celebrities are continuing to rally their support for Frank Ocean and the newest celeb to do so is 50 Cent who sat down with MTV News to discuss Frank “coming out.” There has been many speculations going on since Frank wrote his letter telling the world about his first love. People thought he was brave and made him a pioneer within the hip-hop community. Others decided to use this as a way to reject his music, and some even considered it a marketing ploy to garner sales.
50 Cent stated that someone’s “sexual preference” is more visible than what it used to be. He’s impressed by Frank’s music and says, “I can care less about what his personal preference is in the bedroom.”
‘Cause it’s artists before him that have made these choices just not… they haven’t made the choice to expose it to the general public before an actual release of music. So, it can be revolutionary or it can be a tragedy.”
50 goes on to say that, although brave, it can be seen as strategic marketing since “it was intentional” and “not an accident.”
I’m sure the gay community will go out and support Frank Ocean. They have to. The more successful that project is now, it’s going to leave people in the position where they can actually say, “I’m gay.” At different points they can just express how they feel about certain things.
Even though 50 feels this “lifestyle” is still a choice, I commend him for having the common respect to accept everyone for being content in living their lives in their own truth. Hearing rappers who were raised in urban communities that are known for their ignorance toward homosexuality say they support Frank Ocean or gay marriage just suggests that the world may be changing after all.
Obama is for same sex marriage. If your president is saying that, who are you, who am I to go the other way?
Welp. Do you think this suggestschange? Be sure to check out the video after the jump and post your thoughts.
