Star Jones: Anderson Cooper Came Out For Ratings
Here we go…
Star Jones sat down on The Today Show yesterday and gave her insight on the reason Anderson Cooper came out. Let’s just say I didn’t like her response.
“I’ve been in daytime television for a long time,” Jones said. “He’s a daytime talk show host and when the ratings slip in daytime, the hosts tend to tell you lots of things about them. I remember Oprah said she smoked crack. Oprah said she was pregnant at 14 and considered suicide. There were times that you generate information for ratings.”
Child. So Anderson Cooper just lifted the veil on his partially concealed sexuality for ratings? As if someone who’s been in media for decades would need it. Yes, his show may not be doing the best, but I don’t know what his sexuality has to do with his career – something Anderson always points out. And then Star had the nerve to come for my Aunt Oprah like that. Oprah never needed ratings during the time she said those things. But okay.
And as my friends over at Crunk & Disorderly have mentioned, Star is pushing her book along with Wendy Williams onto the people at VH1 for a series after bashing their Basketball Wives for being terrible people. Talk about doing whatever it takes for ratings. What Star needs to do is try apologizing to Barbara Walters who snatched that job right out of her wig and told her to never return to daytime again. I ain’t calling you irrelevant, but girl, you need to not come for people who’ve had a bigger come up than you since lap band and that televised wedding to a gay man who is known for his dips in the Harlem ballroom circuit. And I’m done.
