Brandy Talks About The Night Whitney Died on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’
Brandy stopped by The Wendy Williams Show yesterday to discuss her new album Two Eleven, which debuted this past Tuesday. When asked about the day Whitney Houston passed, which was also Brandy’s 33rd birthday, Brandy mentions how she was preparing for the Clive Davis Grammy party a few days prior and seeing Whitney:
I was devastated. I didn’t understand. I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock. I wasn’t able to do anything. I just wanted to drink wine. It was that emotional for me…. I saw her a couple of days before. She came to the rehearsal that Monica and I were doing for the party. I just remember performing for her and I wanted to impress her because she was in the room. And after we finished performing I could see her thumbs up.
Whitney and Brandy talked after because Brandy wanted some advice about how to prolong her career, and Whitney told her “You’re a class act. Nobody can be you so stop trying to be other people. Embrace you, and you’ll be fine.”
I think those are wonderful words everyone can live by. And during this day in age of the music industry, everyone can stand to set themselves apart from the other dominating artists.
Brandy has been on a great promotional tour for Two Eleven and I’m really excited. I love seeing artists not only make music, but be passionate about it by marketing it to their fans as much as possible. This is how you sell, and some artist still don’t get it.
