Kim Kardashian in New York Magazine
The reality TV queen Kim Kardashian covers this month’s issue of New York Magazine. Inside the fashion issue statements about Kim’s involvement and relationship with some of fashion’s elite is examined. A few months ago, it was reported that Anna Wintour had Kim banned from the MET Gala, and then another designer said he’d never have Kim wear any of his clothing.
But Kim somehow received People Magazine’s Best Dressed celebrity while struggling to fit in the fashion world along with her “boyfriend” Kanye West (I still don’t approve of this relationship.) Kanye has tried countless times to please critics with his budding clothing line, even making Kim wear his Air Yeezy’s on the streets of New York. He’s even gone as far to wanting to intern for Versace. I can’t believe a celebrity of his status wants to be an intern. I find that so humbling.
Kim mentions the connection she has with Kanye. She explains that their commonality is a high quality that she didn’t value in previous relationships. Finally this is something she has come to realize at the age of 31.
Fashion has been a connector for the couple. “If I have a design meeting, or he has one, we come back and talk about how our meetings went,” Kim says as we stroll past a pool containing unseen sea lions. “It’s cool, ’cause you can definitely get more in-depth with someone who actually knows what you’re talking about … So that’s been a fun similarity we have. I think it’s essential to have similarities. When this whole life is done, and it’s just the two of us sitting somewhere when we’re 80, you want to have things to talk about that you have in common. I think that’s something maybe I didn’t value as highly as a quality I cared about in someone.”
