Nicki Minaj sat down with The Breakfast Club this morning to further discuss the shade she received before her Summer Jam set. You think this would be squashed (or the right person would have been addressed) after she adjusted Funkmaster Flex’s lacefront last night during their phone call. Speaking of, peep this tweet that killed me. Man.
Anyway… Nicki told The Breakfast Club that she would’ve never performed Starships in the first place, which I knew already. Starships is not for that crowd. The girl ain’t stupid.
“After all of this has been said and done, I wasn’t going to do Starships. And I think people know that. I’m way smarted than that. I know what people wanted to see. I think it was just someone trying to be sarcastic…. It was horrible timing. It was in bad taste. Everybody makes mistakes, but you got to own your mistakes…. That’s the problem.”
Charlamagne brought up the fact that Lil Wanye pulled out all of Young Money instead of just taking Nicki out. I guess @Brookandthecity was right when she said, loyalty is vintage. Nicki mentioned Lauryn Hill’s statement about the event being taken too far, then all of the other artists that had something to say.
The interview proceeded with the discussion about Foxy and how their connection was so out of the blue. Only because Lil Kim said Nicki was copying her after taking a pic with Missy Elliot and Eve, but okay.
Then, they talked about an apparent funeral scene that Nicki was going to do to represent Kim. Goodness, rumors are deadly. Then Nicki had to go and call Kim irrelevant. Goodness.
I don’t even want you to finish that sentence because That’s not even in my character and that’s ridiculous. Let’s stop with all the rumors that are giving people false hope that they’re relevant. Please. I’m not about to come on my stage and bring death on my stage. I’m thinking about life and love and thats it. We’re just bigging up each other. Nobody that’s irrelevant would’ve become relevant on my stage.
I love that The Breakfast Club brought up the issue about Nicki using the female card. This was a good interview, but I still want her to talk to Peter Rosenberg since he said that he would never apologize to her.
