NEW VIDEO: Nicki Minaj, ‘Starships’

Nicki Minaj’s video for Starships has finally premiered after weeks off waiting. The video was shot on the shores of Hawaii with Nicki in a skimpy bikini flaunting her curves. The visual is nice but the tone of her voice irks me. I still don’t like this song, compared to her first two videos for Stupid Hoe and Beez In The Trap. The concept of Nicki being beamed from space onto the Hawaiian shores just makes me realize I still don’t know what Starships exactly are, even though she explained it in a an interview. Nicki managed to look pretty in most of her looks, but I despise that green wig. My favorite part had to be the half-naked men. But of course.

It’s great to see Nicki doing promotion ever since she decided to leave Twitter then come back again. I wonder if this video will excite her fans once again and get them on her side. Check out the video after the jump and post your thoughts.

Brandy just released her track Put It Down featuring Chris Brown. There’s been strong debates on Twitter since Brandy’s Behind The Music last night about her current music career.

I can see how Brandy is following trends with this new track, but it isn’t too bad as some R&B artists’ music has currently been. I like the beat, not the lyrics so much, but I definitely think I like it more than It All Belongs To Me. Just a little. Or maybe I wouldn’t even put them in the same category.

With the addition of Chris Brown and the uptempo beat, I’m sure the track will do well on the charts. One can only hope. What do you all think? Listen to the track after the jump.

VIDEO: Rihanna Performs ‘We Found Love’ at ‘Time’ 100 Gala

Tuesday night, Rihanna appeared at the Time 100 Gala after being honored as one of the World’s Most Influential People. She also performed an acoustic version of We Found Love for the festivities, and didn’t sound half bad. The crowd wasn’t stomping on their feet and no one cried, but I’m just happy to see she kept her tone as well as she could and gave the song a little spirit.

Usher gives us another track, Scream, from his upcoming album, Looking For Myself, which hits stores on June 12th. This new track apparently goes back to the dance sounds Usher has tried before with his recent music, making fans frown and discouraged from buying the album.

I can’t give a good review on the track since my speakers on my Mac aren’t letting me be great (they better not have broke cuz I”ll be pissed.) Take a listen to the track after the jump and post your thoughts.

Beyonce is ‘PEOPLE’s’ World’s Most Beautiful Woman

Beyonce has been named People Magazine’s World’s Most Beautiful Woman of 2012. The honor comes during a pivotal moment in Beyonce’s life and career, as the talented singer spends most of her time being an affectionate mother to her almost 4-month-old daughter Blue Ivy, whom she credits for feeling so beautiful everyday.

“I feel more beautiful than I’ve ever felt because I’ve given birth,” she says. “I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a sense of purpose on this earth. It means more to me that I was named after I became a mother.”

Rihanna surprised fans with a special behind the scenes look at the journey it took to create her latest album Talk That Talk.

The video begins with Rihanna on her tour bus after her sold out concert at the Target Center on June 16, 2011 in Minneapolis, MN. The video then takes us on the last North American leg of her LOUD tour in Boston, MA on July 24th, 2011. Viewers got a look at the events that took place before the concert like pranks that take place among the cast and crew. I can’t believe they actually performed pranks while the concert was taking place, like a pillow fight during S&M and female “rude boys” during Rude Boy.

Later in the video we get a look at Rihanna back in Barbados visiting her mother and family. I know it must be hard for her not only to travel the world but to live in America being constantly away from her family. I particularly loved the part where Rihanna’s babysit said she was a “rude” child. I see that quality hasn’t died.

This video is a great promotional tactic for Rihanna. I love when celebrities let you get a little peek into their personal lives. It makes them human and you develop sympathy and a connection with them. It makes me want to buy the album.

Dr. Dre: Tupac Hologram Was “Strictly for Coachella”

Thank God.

The rumors of the Tupac Hologram that shocked viewers during the Coachella Music Festival 2012 last week going on tour have finally been put to rest by Dr. Dre. Dre was the originator behind the idea of the Tupac Hologram created by Digital Domain and AV Concepts.

“It was strictly for Coachella. Get it right. I want to get rid of all the rumors out there. This was not done for a tour. If a tour happens, we’ll see.”

And the world takes a collective sigh of relief.

Nicki Minaj Reactivates Her Twitter Account

I knew this girl wasn’t going to stay away from Twitter for too long.

Yesterday, Nicki Minaj rejoined Twitter and currently possesses almost 2 million followers, which is nothing compared to the 11 million people she left behind a week ago.

In an interview with Capital FM, Nicki denied deleting her Twitter due to her fan site, Nicki Daily, “leaking” her music. This claim was something everyone was believing, and was even in the post I did on Nicki deleting her Twitter after speaking with one of her Barbz. But, that doesn’t mean that tantrum she threw that day won’t be remembered.

“It was just funny before my album came out– I followed their Twitter page and I saw them tweeting away exclusive leaks off my album,” she said. “And I’m like well if you made a fan page, I would imagine that you actually are my fan and you care about me and you wouldn’t wanna do something like that. So, I just unfollowed them. I didn’t say anything mean, I just unfollowed them. Then low and behold I saw that they were rallying people against me and saying ‘she unfollowed us. how mean is she?’”

However, that wasn’t actually the reason she chose to delete her Twitter. Instead, she just needed some space. “I’m like– Lets set the record straight because a lot of times I don’t speak on things but I don’t want people to think that’s why I deleted my Twitter,” said Nicki. “I just needed a moment to myself. Because some page posted things about me– I mean, I’ve read horrible things about myself. I wouldn’t delete my Twitter over that. ”
