VIDEO: Alex Newell Performs in DRAG on ‘Glee’

Let me first start off by saying I had no idea that such a tiny voice could come out of a husky, black male.

Alex Newell was a contestant on the Glee reality series, The Glee Project. He didn’t win, but each contestant got a chance to appear on this season of Glee, and I have to say that Alex’s was the best by far.

When he first came on the scene as his character Wade, I was put off by his voice. But, it soon grew on me. I like tiny voices… on some people. Kurt and Mercedes plotted with Coach Sue to ruin their competition by getting Wade to dress in women’s clothing during a performance. This didn’t sit well with Kurt and Mercedes, so they decided to stop him from going on with it. But it was too late.

Wade performed Boogie Shoes, which went along with the 70s theme of last night’s episode. I was in utter awe that he was not only pretty but that he was hitting all those high notes a boy his age and size shouldn’t be able to. He got me up off my feet and I started boogying along with him, and so did the rest of Twitter. The fans tweeted and stomped in praise, and I even took off my imagery wig and threw it at the screen. I LIVED.

This performance was not only the best for it’s catchy song and fabulous vocals, but for the fact that it had the first cross dresser appear on the show and not in a derogatory way. Gay/Transgendered characters are usually portrayed as the character we should all feel sorry for.  Or they are usually portrayed as a caricature that we’re meant to laugh at. But last night, a cross dressing, gay, BLACK, young man sashayed and boogied across the stage on network television and encouraged many people to dance along with him.

I think this was the greatest demonstration of what Glee is about: the proper representation of different teens that don’t fit the norm of society. Not only did Alex represent for the gay/transgendered, black teens out there, but he also represented everyone in the industry who is trying to make it but doesn’t fit society’s standard of pretty. I think it’s safe to say that Alex is opening a door for the “abnormal” to work their way into the industry and acheive their dreams. Who says you can’t be a big, flamboyant, black, gay teen with a high pitched voice who likes to wear women’s clothing?

Check out the video of his performance after the jump. I watched it at least 10 times and REFUSE to stop.

Kanye West: I Never Said Kim Kardashian Was My Beyonce

I knew that previous statement about Kanye West calling Kim Kardashian “his Beyonce” had to be a fabricated mess.

In a recent exclusive with Us Weekly, Kanye denies calling Kim his Beyonce, after the media rampage surrounding his single Way Too Cold (originally Theraflu) and the couple being spotted around New York City.

“…of course there are a lot of media inaccuracies surrounding this past couple of weeks, especially the ‘She’s my Beyonce‘ quote. I would never compare anyone to my friend’s wife,” West tells Us Weekly exclusively.

“Come on now, that doesn’t even sound like me,” says West, who is a longtime pal and collaborator of Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z. “If I don’t say something in a rap or on Twitter, it’s not true,” the “Otis” rapper tells Us.

I’m glad Kanye had sense after all not to compare Kim to Beyonce, but only if he gathered enough sense to leave her alone all together. How do you feel about their relationship?

Khloe Kardashian is Pregnant

Or at least that’s what Lamar Odom’s father is telling people.

Lamar Odom’s father, Joe Odom, was caught by the paparazzi and began spilling tea I’m sure Lamar and Khloe Kardashian didn’t care for anyone to know.  The skeletal being claimed that Khloe was pregnant and he is a proud grandfather-to-be.

“I got a little news,” he said with a smile. “I’m about to have a grandchild.” He even said that Lamar is “so excited” and he and Khloé “have been trying to do this for a couple of years.”

Though Kamp Kardashian has yet to make an official statement on this alleged baby-to-be, a source close to Khloé denies the rumor. But if Lamar’s dad really did spill the beans on Khloé’s pregnancy, he wouldn’t be the first relative to prematurely publicize a famous family member’s news.

I think the Crypt Keeper should leave the pipe alone along with his hopes of ever being relevant in media or his son’s life. I remember distinctively that Lamar didn’t really care for his father on an episode of the Kardashians. I’m sure they may have reconciled minutely, but Joe is still working on using his son’s fame to get him some money to buy a few bags of blow to smoke away his life. Shameful.

What do you think about the rumor? Watch the video of Joe Odom’s claim inside.

Nicki Minaj Announces First Fragrance

Nicki Minaj arrived in London yesterday dressed like she skinned Magilla Gorilla and was ready to hit the slopes. The eccentric rapper announced that she’d be releasing her first fragrance this fall in a press statment.

”I have always been a huge fan of great fragrances. This is yet another extension of my creative expression. I designed the scent and bottle with my Barbz in mind.”

I think it’s funny how she kept her Barbz in mind with the creation of this fragrance, but just a few days ago she deleted her Twitter account, which left Twitter a buzz and her fans disappointed. Nicki’s twitter account was a large part of her promotion, garnering almost 11 million followers. With the loss of that and the disrespectful tantrums and tongue lashings her Barbz endured, do you think they’ll be buying O’de Nicki Minaj in the fall?

Check out more photos of Nicki in London after the jump and post your thoughts.

SPOTTED: Beyonce & Blue Ivy Visiting Aunt Solange

Beyonce and Blue Ivy were spotted in Brooklyn yesterday visiting aunt Solange. I’m just falling even more in love with the sight of Blue Ivy’s chunky legs, and it looks like yellow will be her signature color just like her mother.

This visit took place after Jay-Z and Beyonce were spotted with Juelz and Daniel Sr. at the Nets vs. Heat game, Monday night. Jay was nominated for uncle of the year when he asked Lebron James to greet Juelz, and Lebron took it a step further by giving Juelz his [sweaty] headband and the sneakers on his feet. That boy was giddy.

Check out photos from both events inside, along with a video of Lebron greeting Juelz with wonderful memorabilia. And watch a video on Beyonce congratulating the winner of the End Of Time Remix contest.

Beyonce Surprises ‘End Of Time’ Remix Contest Winner via Skype

Beyonce surprised the winner, Jimek, of her End Of Time Remix contest via Skype. The contest began back in February and was held for a few weeks to find the best remix to (my favorite track) End Of Time. “Poland Native Jimek will take home $4,000 and will appear on the upcoming EP, 4: The Remix.” The remix will be available for digital download on April 24th.

His humbleness was so adorable and Beyonce enjoyed it most of all, telling him to stay as humble as possible. It’s obivious he’s a big fan.

Did any of you enter the contest or listen to any of the remixes? Be sure to check out the video after the jump and post your thoughts. And check out the remix inside. And peep the tracklist and album art for 4: The Remix.

Tupac Hologram May Go on Tour….

This news does not come as a surprise.

Apparently, the Tupac hologram that took 100,000-$400,000 to create could soon be going on tour. Twitter was a buzz when Tupac was resurrected in the form of a hologram during Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s set at the Coachella Music Festival on Sunday night. And that reaction may be the push this tour needs to develop.

At the moment, Dre and Snoop are weighing the possibility of touring stadiums as a package tour featuring other stars, such as Eminem and 50 Cent, or staging an arena tour with just the two of them as headliners along with the virtual Tupac.

El Ulbrich, the chief creative officer of Digital Domain, the company that produced the effect, told theWall Street Journal that the holographic Shakur is a purely digital creation. “This is not found footage. This is not archival footage. This is an illusion,” he said. “This is just the beginning. Dre has a massive vision for this.” According to Ulbrich, Dre approached his company a year ago about creating a virtual Tupac, but they only began work on the project four months ago.

“It was Dre’s vision to bring [Tupac] back to life,” Nick Smith, the president of AV Concepts, the San Diego company that projected and staged the image, told MTV News. “It was his idea from the very beginning and we worked with him and his camp to utilize the technology to make it come to life.” Speaking of the potential for this technology, Smith explained that “you can take people that haven’t done concerts before or perform music they haven’t sung and digitally re-create it.”

Open Letter to Sheree Whitfield: Stunt Queen Extraordinaire

Dear Sheree,

After Sunday night’s airing of the first episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion Show, I’ve been pushed to write this letter. Sheree, girl, I really hope this gets to you because you need to read and retain.

I want to start off by saying that I didn’t watch the entire season only because I’m really not interested in seeing a bunch of middle-aged black women bicker like 12-year-old girls on the playground after a game of double-dutch; something that your co-star Nene Leakes mentioned, but she obviously doesn’t practice what she preaches. I left all that back in high school, something you should’ve done 30 years ago, but….

Tupac’s Mom’s Reaction to The Hologram

It appears as though Tupac’s mom, Afeni Shakur, didn’t mind the hologram like some. In fact, she thought it was a proper portrayal and tribute to her late, great son.

Afeni didn’t attend the performance — but we’re told she watched it unfold live on the Internet … but while it was thrilling, the entire experience was bittersweet.

The rep says Dr. Dre asked Afeni for approval to incorporate Pac into his performance — and she said yes. As a thank you, we’re told Dre made a donation to the rapper’s charity … The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation.

TMZ also spoke with Dre’s crewmate Daz Dillinger — who tells us, Nate Dogg was originally supposed to appear as a hologram as well, but the decision was made at the last minute not to use him. Nate got a video tribute instead.

It’s good that Dre asked permission from Tupac’s mom to use his likeness. I guess all couth hasn’t left the world after all. Be sure to check out the performance. It still gets to me in several ways.
